Athletic meet at DAV

AMRITSAR: The 64th annual sports and athletic meet of DAV College Amritsar began on Saturday. The two-day sports meet will see more than 300 students participating in more than 30 events.

The 64th annual sports and athletic meet of DAV College Amritsar began on Saturday. The two-day sports meet will see more than 300 students participating in more than 30 events. The sports meet was declared open by Principal Rajesh Kumar in the presence of the chief guest, MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla.

Principal Rajesh Kumar and BB Yadav, head of the physical education department, said the college the purpose was to inspire the students for their overall development of personality and to motivate them to take part in sports events. Events like 100 metre race, 200 metre race, shot put, slow cycling, obstacle race, spoon and potato race, 5000 metre race, discus throw and 50 metre skipping race were organised on the first day. A musical chair event for the staff and guests was the centre of attraction. Students took part enthusiastically.

Aujla appreciated the spirit of sportsmanship exhibited by the students.

Administrator Rajni Khanna, Registrar Prof GS Sidhu, Vice-Principal Darshandeep, sports board president Vikas Bhardwaj and other officials were present.
