Amritsar, August 16

A couple of days after a transporter and trader, Gursajan Bedi, allegedly got threats and extortion calls from a gangster, armed men  reportedly attacked his gunman near Pandori Waraich village here on Tuesday evening.

The police, however, ruled out that the incident had any link between the transporter and the gagster. The police said it was a road rage incident.

Constable Savraj Singh, a resident of Supariwind village in Majitha, told the police on Tuesday around 11.30 pm when he was returning home and reached near Pandori Waraich village, three motorcycle-born persons came and stopped their bike in front of his car.

He said thereafter, the accused started damaging his car. “As I was in the uniform, one of accused shouted that he was a cop and was alone in the car. They said nobody was in the car. After that, they fled from the spot,” added Savraj.

A case under Sections 341, 427, 148 and 149 of the IPC has been registered in this regard.

SSP Parampal Singh said the incident had nothing to do with the alleged threat calls to Gursajan Bedi. He said it was a road rage case as the cop had accidently hit the bike. The SSP said the investigation was on.
