Amritsar, August 13
Naujawan Bharat Sabha and All India Students’ Federation activists started a march from Bakna village, native area of freedom fighter Baba Sohan Singh Bakna, on Monday. They have been demanding introduction of Bhagat Singh National Employee Guarantee Bill in the Parliament.
The activists demanded that the proposed bill should have provisions to allow any person to get registered with unemployment exchanges after attaining the age of 17 years. Sabha’s national president Prithipal Singh Marimegha said, “The bill should ensure that the government is time-bound to provide employment to the registered person within one year.”
The activists demanded that an unskilled person should be given a monthly unemployment allowance of Rs 20,000. They also demanded allowance of Rs 25,000 for semi-skilled, Rs 30,000 for skilled and Rs 35,000 for highly-skilled individuals.
Sabha’s leader Narinder Sohal said employment for the youth would automatically end problems of drug addiction and petty crimes. The march would pass through various cities of the state and culminate on August 28, the birth anniversary of Bhagat Singh, at Desh Bhagat Yadgar Hall in Jalandhar. — TNS
