Accusing cops of the Kamoh police station of removing some accessories from his car, a resident of Kala Afgana village in Gurdaspur has filed a complaint with the SSP (Rural) as well as a local court.
The court has issued a notice to the police station in-charge for August 28. The office of the SSP, too, has entrusted the Attari DSP with the inquiry.
Complainant Satbir Singh, who owns Tata Safari (PB 12 Q 8098), stated that his vehicle was impounded by cops of the Kamoh police station after a road mishap. He said that he got vehicle release order from a court and went to the police station to take it. “I was astonished to find that most of the costly accessories were missing from the vehicle. I questioned the munshi and other cops about it but they did not reply. I left the car there and decided to file a complaint,” said Satbir Singh.
The missing items include two side mirrors, the entire set of power window system, an air conditioner including inside panel, a stereo system including speakers, a stepney along with alloy-wheel, a tool kit and an amplifier base.
Singh claimed that the total cost of the missing items was over Rs 2 lakh. “Nobody at the police station paid any heed to my complaint regarding the theft. If a vehicle is not safe in a police station, I wonder how do the police function to make the city safe,” he added.
