3 held in two separate incidents; revolver, three bikes recovered

The Civil Lines police today arrested three persons in two separate instances for allegedly committing robberies and snatchings in various parts of the city.

Among those arrested were identified as Harbhej Singh of Loharka Kalan village, Nirvail Singh of Waryam Nangal village and Harpreet Singh of Butala village. Separate cases have been registered against them. During their interrogation, the police recovered three motorcycles without number plates and a revolver.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Gautam Singhal said that Harbhej was arrested following a specific input from a naka. He could not produce the documents of the vehicle. He later admitted to have stolen it. A case under Sections 379 and 411, IPC, was registered against him in this connection.

Meanwhile, the Ranjit Avenue police nabbed Nirvail Singh and Harpreet Singh from the Amrit-Anand park side. The police received a tip-off that the accused snatched vehicles and committed robberies. The police recovered a .32-bore revolver from their possession. Nirvail was wanted in around 11 different heinous crimes, Singhal said. He said the accused were brought on police remand after being produced in court and more recoveries were likely to be made. — TNS
