Tarn Taran: The police have booked three persons of a family for allegedly demanding dowry. Complainant Mandeep Kaur stated to the police that Baljinder Singh, along with his parents Labh Singh and Harbhajan Kaur of Aujla village, had been harassing her for dowry since their marriage. She alleged that they forced him out of the house after thrashing her. ASI Balwinder Lal, investigation officer, said Sections 498-A and 120-B of the IPC were slapped. No arrest has been made so far. Fraud case

Tarn Taran: Three members of a family of Rallan village in Hoshiarpur district have been booked for allegedly duping a man of Rs 5 lakh. Victim Sukhdev Singh of Wara Telian (Valtoha) said Gurbachan Singh, his brother Sarabjit Singh and son Avtar Singh took Rs 5 lakh from him four years ago with a promise of getting him settled in Brazil. The accused neither sent him abroad nor returned his money. Sections 420, 120-B of the IPC, and 13 of the Punjab Prevention of Human Smuggling Act have been slapped. OC
