23 stolen vehicles recovered from 2 thieves

The local police arrested two persons and recovered 23 stolen vehicles from them here on Tuesday.

The accused have been identified as Tarsem Singh, alias Patwari, of Jandiala Guru and Dilbagh Singh, alias Baggu, of Lopoke.

Sukinder Singh, Station House Officer (SHO) of the Ranjit Avenue police station, said a naka was laid in the B Block market, Ranjit Avenue. Acting on a tip-off, the police intercepted a bike of the accused, the SHO added.

During investigation, the accused confessed to their involvement in stealing 14 bikes, 6 scooters, two tractors and a trolley, said police officer Sukinder.

“The accused admitted that they had stolen bikes from the Lawrence road and Ranjit Avenue. They had stolen a tractor from a house in Mohali where they had gone to get a room on rent. The accused had stolen a tractor-trolley from an under-construction flyover near Subanpur,” said the SHO.

A case under Sections 379 and 411 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered at the Ranjit Avenue police station.
