Tarn Taran, January 11
The Sadar police have booked 20 persons of Manochahal Kalan village, 12 km from here, in connection with a firing case. They are said to have opened fire at a man after the recently concluded panchayat elections. Most of the attackers allegedly belonged to the SAD.
Bikramjit Singh of the same village was injured in the firing. He was admitted to the Civil Hospital.
ASI Balbir Singh said seven of the accused have been identified as Atma Singh, his son Baldev Singh, Palwinder Singh, a former sarpanch of the village, Bakhshish Singh, Avtar Singh, Kulwant Singh and Gurmit Singh. The remaining accused are yet to be identified, the police said.
Bikramjit Singh mentioned in his police complaint that the accused entered his house and fired at him with his .12 bore rifle. He said that the candidate of the assailants had lost the polls due to which they attacked him. None of the accused has been arrested so far, the police said. — OC
