2 killed in mishaps

A 12-year-old girl, Gurmandeep Kaur, lost her life while returning from school when a “speeding” car hit her near Alkare village bus stop. She died on the spot.

Complainant Jagdish Singh, an eyewitness, said that at around 4 pm on Thursday, he was present at Alkare village bus stoppage for some work. “Gurmandeep was coming from Varyam Nangal village side when a rashly drive Innova (PB-02-CL-0999) hit her,” he mentioned in his complaint.

She sustained a critical head injury and died on the spot. She studied in seventh standard. The Kathunangal police have registered a case under Sections 304-A and 279 of the IPC against the unknown driver.

In another mishap, a pedestrian, Sukhdev Singh (50), was killed after being hit by a bike near Sohian Kalan village on Tuesday. According to Onkar Singh, an eyewitness and relative of the deceased, the victim was going to Sohian Kalan bus stop for some work when a speeding bike, driven by Makhan Gujjar of Anaitpura village, hit him. He suffered a serious head injury. He was rushed to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital where he succumbed on Thursday.
