An 11-year-old boy, Arshdeep Singh, was badly injured after he was electrocuted at Bhoma village in Majitha today. He received electric shock when he fell on an iron grill, which had current.

The boy was immediately rushed to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital where his condition is stated to be serious. The victim sustained serious burn and head injuries in the incident.

Tarsem Singh, a relative of the victim, said Arshdeep, son of Amarjit Singh, belonged to a poor family. He said, “His father works in a brick kiln.”

Arshdeep was flying kite on roof of his house when he tried to catch a snapped kite. As he climbed a wall and caught the string, he received an electric shock as the thread had got entangled with high voltage wire passing through the area, he added.

He said, “The boy later fell on an iron grill, which already had current. He again suffered a big electric shock.” When people saw Arshdeep in pain, they immediately snapped the power from an electric transformer and rushed him to the hospital.

Tarsem said, “Earlier, the hospital authorities expressed their inability to treat the child as there was no specialist doctor for head injuries.” They asked them to shift the child to a private hospital, he added. He said as the family was poor they could not go to a private hospital. However, by evening they started treatment, he added.
