11 under-construction buildings sealed by MC

AMRITSAR: On the second day of its drive, the municipal town planning wing of the Municipal Corporation (MC) sealed 11 illegal under-construction hotels buildings on Wednesday.

On the second day of its drive, the municipal town planning wing of the Municipal Corporation (MC) sealed 11 illegal under-construction hotels buildings on Wednesday. Besides, three buildings were partially demolished in the walled city.

Led by Municipal Town Planner (MTP) Iqbalpreet Singh Randhawa, officials visited more than one dozen under-construction properties in the central zone and checked the status of several illegal buildings in Partap Bazar and Hall Bazaar.

Assistant Town Planner Sanjiv Devgan said eleven buildings had been sealed in the zone. Three hotels, where construction was going on, were demolished partially.

Officials said they had prepared a list of illegal hotel buildings and visit all the buildings to keep illegal construction under check. Officials claimed that the drive would continue.

With the sealing drive, hoteliers have stopped construction works. Officials said they didn’t carry mobile phones while visiting the buildings to avoid pressure.

The officials of the town planning wing have swung into action since the MC has been rapped by the High Court over illegal constructions in the city.
