Almost 10 months after the death of a Sub-Inspector (SI), Satinderpal Singh, the rural police have registered a murder case against an unknown person in this connection. SI Satinderpal was posted at the Jandiala Guru police post.

He was found dead with a gunshot injury under mysterious circumstances on December 19 last year. Initially, the police registered a case under Section 174 of the CrPC while suspecting that it could be a suicide. The incident came to light when his colleagues knocked on the door of his room to go for patrolling, but there was no response from inside. They broke open the door and saw his body lying in a pool of blood.

In the FIR, his wife Gurmit Kaur, a resident of Dalip Avenue at Loharaka road, said Satinderpal was a brave policeman. He had been receiving threats from a gangster who was nabbed by him with weapons. He was transferred to Jandiala Guru in September 2018. She said Satinderpal told him a number of times that he was getting threats.

Amolak Singh, SHO, Jandiala police station, said a probe was carried out by SP (Investigations). After taking the district attorney’s opinion, the murder case was registered. He said that the incident was mysterious since the day it occurred. He was alone in his room in the chowki when he suffered a gunshot injury. He said further investigation was under way.

It has been learnt that Satinderpal had nabbed a gangster, who is currently lodged in jail. The police are contemplating to bring him on production warrant.
