10 mobiles, 6 bikes seized, three arrested

AMRITSAR: Acting on a tip-off, the Chheharta police have nabbed three snatchers and vehicle lifters. Six bikes, 10 mobile phones and two cameras have been recovered. Those arrested were identified as Arunjit Singh of Nimla Colony, Manjit Singh of Baba Deep Singh Colony and Mani Singh of Chheharta.

Acting on a tip-off, the Chheharta police have nabbed three snatchers and vehicle lifters. Six bikes, 10 mobile phones and two cameras have been recovered. Those arrested were identified as Arunjit Singh of Nimla Colony, Manjit Singh of Baba Deep Singh Colony and Mani Singh of Chheharta.

Chheharta SHO Harish Behal said that during patrolling, cops got a specific input that the three, who had been targeting tourists and women, were at the backside of Himalya Mill in Naraingarh, probably waiting for their target for committing a robbery. The informer told the police that the accused had been robbing women and tourists coming to visit Attari-Wagah joint check post besides stealing vehicles from different parts of the city.

Purse snatched

Meanwhile, two motorcycle-borne youths snatched a girl’s purse in the area falling under the Division-A police station here on Sunday. Vivek Talwar, father of the victim, said he, along with his family, was returning in an auto from the railway station when the miscreants snatched his daughter’s purse near their house. The purse had Rs 2,000 and two mobile phones in it.

In another incident, a bike-borne person snatched a woman’s purse in posh Ranjit Avenue locality here on Sunday. She, along with her husband Davinder Singh, was going to Ranjit Avenue market for some domestic work. Near Swayam Hotel, the accused came from behind and snatched the purse containing Rs 15,000 cash, a mobile phone and some documents. The police have registered separate cases.
