1 caught with 2-kg heroin

A team of the local CIA staff, headed by Inspector Rachhpal Singh, nabbed one Gurdev Singh, alias Debu, of Rattoke village with 2 kg of heroin from Khara village, 25 km from here, on Saturday. Harjit Singh Grewal, SP (Investigations), on Sunday informed that a case under Sections 21, 29, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act had been against the accused by the Sarhali police.

The SP said the accused was nabbed during a routine police patrolling in the area. The recovered consignment is said to be worth Rs 10 crore in the international market, he said.

The SP revealed that the consignment was brought from across the border as the accused was having relations with smugglers.
