The Border Security Force (BSF) and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) seized three packets containing 1.4 kg of contraband heroin from the Amritsar sector on Tuesday.

Based on specific information provided by the NCB, a special joint search operation was launched by the BSF in the area under Border Outpost Gulgarh, Ex- 32 Bn, Amritsar sector.

During the search operation, three packets of contraband heroin were found wrapped in white polythene.

RS Kataria, Deputy Inspector General, BSF Punjab frontier, said the enhanced vigil by troops of the BSF had once again thwarted the attempt of smugglers to smuggle contraband items into India.

This year, the BSF has recovered 101.3 kg of heroin, 1.5-kg opium, 15 weapons, 24 magazines, 542 bullets and 11 Pakistani SIM cards from smugglers. — TNS
