The GNDU Non-Teaching Employees Association today intensified their protests against Vice-Chancellor (VC) Ajaib Singh Brar as they rallied in front of the administrative block. Up in arms against the VC’s apathy towards the issues raised by them, the employees said they would continue the struggle till their demands were fulfilled.

Leading the protest, Balbir Singh Garcha, president of the association, said the employees were being treated with neglect and injustice as their grievances were continuously being ignored. “We have brought the issue of delayed promotions, increase in pay scale and many other benefits that are being denied to employees several times to the notice of the VC but he has ignored them deliberately.”

Their demands include a filter system for hiring Class C employees under the 235 quota reservation, the library and electricity department staff be made regular, increasing the pay grade of proof readers and data entry operators and delayed promotions of employees be cleared. The employees also alleged that the VC was bending rules to give favours to his own lobbyists. “He has always acted with vested interests and flouted rules for that. We have also appealed to the CM to intervene and solve the matter,” said Hardeep Singh, general secretary of association.
