‘Process on to hire vet doctors, inspectors’

Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy development Minister, Punjab Balbir Singh Sidhu attended a workshop organised to upgrade the ‘Nili Ravi’ breeds at Thatha village, 35 km from here, on Thursday.

While addressing a gathering, the minister said the process of hiring 106 veterinary doctors and more than 100 veterinary inspectors in the state was in progress.

He also announced a grant of Rs5 lakh each for Tarn Taran and Patti veterinary hospitals. The minister said the construction work of a buffalo research center on 45 acres of land at a cost of Rs20 crore would be initiated soon at Booh village in Tarn Taran district.

The minister said the proposal for setting up Veterinary Polo Technical College was also under consideration. — OC
