‘Act sternly against traffic rules violators’

AMRITSAR: Taking serious note of the deteriorating traffic situation in the holy city, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kamaldeep Singh Sangha has directed the Police Department and also the Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Kanwaljit Singh, to take stern action against violators of rules.

Taking serious note of the deteriorating traffic situation in the holy city, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kamaldeep Singh Sangha has directed the Police Department and also the Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Kanwaljit Singh, to take stern action against violators of rules.

The DC instructed them to streamline the traffic in various parts of the city. In a meeting with officials of the administration and the Police Department he mentioned about the people commuting on wrong sides of roads. He said such commuters not only violated rules, but also put lives of other people in danger.

The DC instructed the RTA to impose maximum fine on those indulging in overloading of vehicles, besides ensuring that the people followed traffic rules in a true letter and spirit.

Violation of traffic norms not only created hindrance in smooth traffic flow, but also put lives of other commuters at risk, he added. “Youth driving Bullet motorcycles and creating noise pollution . Those parking their vehicles at wrong places and playing loud stereo in should be challaned,” said the DC.—TNS
