Amritsar, February 14

Two day after body of a youth was found in the Dhianpur road drain in Baba Bakala, the police have arrested two youths on the charge of culpable homicide.

The body of Anurag Singh (20) of Patti Gulab Das, Baba Bakala, was found in drain on Monday afternoon. The police initiated inquest proceedings at that time.

Following investigation and on the statement of deceased’s father Sakatar Singh, the police booked and arrested two youths of Baba Bakala. They were identified as Harmandeep Singh, alias Chandigarhia (22), and Sahil Singh (19). ASI Balwinder Singh, investigating officer (IO), said on February 11, Anurag had gone to Harmandeep’s house where the trio consumed drugs. However, Anurag’s health started deteriorating on the intervening night of February 11 and 12. He died around 4 am and the suspects threw his body in the Dhianpur drain.

The police handed over body to the family after an autopsy. The IO said both the suspects were drug addicts. They were produced in a court and brought on police remand for further investigation.
