Amritsar, May 22

The automobile vehicle market of the district has been rendered listless by the pandemic. The impact of Covid lockdown and restrictions has upset all spheres of life. The market for used cars and two-wheelers is no different.

Amandeep Singh, proprietor of a shop dealing in used vehicles, said, the customer is elusive and the sellers are not getting market price for their product. “In this scenario, no sale or purchase was taking place. We have been dealing in this business for the past four decades but have never encountered such a dry period.”

Vinay Seth, dealing in used cars in posh areas of the city, said, customers were not out in the market. Only a handful of desperate sellers were out in the market while most of the sellers withdrew, waiting for the opportune time to sell their units.

He stated that before the pandemic there used to be a thriving market of used cars in the city. This can be gauged from the fact that there are about 130 members in the Amritsar Car Dealers Association.
