Three booked for noise pollution

Amritsar: Perturbed over the noise of a gurudwara loudspeaker, an elderly man lodged a complaint with the police after which three persons were booked. They have been identified as Amir Singh, Malkit Singh and Jagjit Singh, all residents of Saidpur village. Sucha Singh (63) told the police that he was a heart patient and had requested the accused a number of times to keep the volume of the loudspeaker low. However, they did not bother. A case under Sections 3, 4 and 5 of the Punjab Instrument (control and noise) Act was registered. TNS

Man robbed of scooter, cash

Amritsar: An ex-serviceman was robbed of his scooter and cash by two armed persons in Khiala Kalan village on Monday. Sumittar Singh of Khiala Kalan village said he was going to Chheharta for some work, when two motorcycle-borne persons signalled him to stop and one of the accused attacked him with a weapon leaving him injured. The accused fled with his scooter. He said besides his mobile phone, he had Rs12,000, an ATM card and other documents which the robbers took with them. A case was registered. TNS
