Startup Day held to encourage youth in Amritsar

In its bid to push for self-reliance and build entrepreneurs’ community in the district, Innovation Mission Punjab, a private-public partnership that aims to build, empower and act as a catalyst for local start-up communities in Punjab, held Startup Day in Amritsar.

The event is part of Innovation Mission Punjab’s mission to conduct multiple startup day events by the end of this year. The aim of the initiative is to provide a platform to the new startups and entrepreneurs in Punjab to meet, communicate with the young-preneurs and other stakeholders of their industry and create various opportunities for their startups to grow further.

The event was the fourth edition of the Startup Day series after the launch in Chandigarh, Ludhiana, and Jalandhar. Inviting young, upcoming and aspiring entrepreneurs from the city, the event focused on creating regional access for the startup community and other support in ideation, and development and accelerate the growth of their start-ups.

Somveer Anand, CEO and Mission Director of IMPunjab, who was also the key speaker, said, “We need to identify and fill the gaps between start-ups, entrepreneurs, incubators, investors and mentors. We need agencies striving to create a rich network of investors, industrialists, and founders for the startup community to engage with them to upscale their functioning and help them shape the future of their business. We are trying to do just that by being catalyst here.”

The jury panel consisted of industry experts and a mix of regional entrepreneurs and startup enablers from the region, including Rishabh Arora (Aptitude Baba), eminent entrepreneur Mandeep Kaur Tangra (Simbaquartz), Vikrant Kapoor (Angels Paradise), Rouble Tuli (Tuli’s the Academy), Prof Chetan Chite from IIM, Amritsar. The event also saw participation from Amritsar Founders and CII - Amritsar Chapter with Karan Verma (Aar Vee Group), Sanjay Maheshwari (Sky Foundations) and Jitender Jain (KocharTech).
