Son of domestic help in Talwara attains 99.2% in Class XII

Talwara, June 29

Rohit Kumar, a student of Senior Secondary School of Kasba Kamahi Devi under Talwara block, has topped by securing 496/500 marks in the results of Class 12 of the Punjab School Education Board declared yesterday.

Rohit’s native village is Dharampur Dehriyan, but after his father Sham Lal’s death some eight years ago, he started living with his mother Rekha Devi at her maternal Beh Ranga village. When his father, who was a labourer, died, the family stared at an uncertain future. Rekha Devi didn’t give up and started working as a domestic help.

Rohit’s aunt Sheela Devi and mother Rekha Devi said Rohit was quite hardworking and promising from the very beginning. Rohit’s desire is now to serve the country by passing the NDA test. Rohit said: “I have been able to achieve this position with the unflinching support of my mother.”
