Amritsar, April 19

SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami has written a letter to PM Narendra Modi demanding strict punishment for culprits who committed a heinous crime, highly suspected as sexual assault, on a specially-abled minor Sikh girl in Alwar, Rajasthan, in January.

The victim was found in a pool of blood under the Tijara flyover in Alwar jurisdiction of Rajasthan on January 11. According to reports, she had sustained serious injuries on her private parts and it was highly suspected that she was sexually assaulted and dropped in an injured condition at the said location. “This crime is extremely traumatic and painful and it murdered humanity and the accused persons are still at large,” said Dhami.

Four months have passed since this crime took place, but no culprits have been apprehended in this case. The SGPC demanded from the PM to get this case investigated through the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or other capable Central agency, so that the culprits who committed the heinous crime are sent behind the bars and justice is provided.

Meanwhile, the girl is presently undergoing treatment and is in the intensive care unit (ICU) at a hospital in Jaipur. Despite registering a case 39/2022 under Section 363 and 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Sections 3, 4, 5 and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at Mala Khera police station on January 12, the Rajasthan Police have failed to make even a single arrest in this heinous crime against the minor girl belonging to a minority community.

The SGPC has already written two letters in this case to Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on January 17 and March 5, but in vain.

The Alwar Gurmat Prachar Committee has been protesting, demanding justice in this case at Alwar’s Shaheed Smarak Sthal for the last over 80 days. “It is unfortunate that despite all these efforts, the Rajasthan Government was not taking up this case seriously,” he said.
