Amritsar: The anti-sabotage teams of the Punjab Police carried out search operations at vital locations, including near Golden Temple, Durgiana Temple, inter-state bus terminus and railway station here, as a security measure on Sunday. DCP (Law & Order) Parminder Singh Bhandal said the search operation was part of a special drive to maintain law and order and check anti-social elements. Special checkpoints were installed and patrolling was also done in different parts of the city. Sniffer dogs were pressed to service, while deep search metal detectors, inspection mirrors, non-linear ground detector (NLGD) and hand held metal detector (HHMD) were also being used. The search operation was also carried out at Sri Mata Lal Dev Temple at Rani Ka Bagh, Sri Guru Ram Dass Ji International Airport, shopping malls and famous markets which witness heavy rush. The DCP appealed to people to remain alert and inform the police in case they find any abandoned thing. “The people should help the police in maintaining law and order by informing about anti-social elements active in their areas. We assure that their names and identity will be kept secret,” he said.
