Police carry out search drive at railway station

Ahead of the Republic Day celebrations, a police team headed by Assistant Commissioner of Police Palwinder Singh carried out a search operation at the railway station here on Friday.

The team conducted search operations at platforms and also interacted with passengers and shared security tips with them. The ACP urged them to share information regarding any suspicious movement or element with the police.

The ACP said security had been beefed up in city due to upcoming Republic Day celebrations. He said being a border district the Punjab Police have been on high alert to thwart any untoward incident from anti-national forces, adding that police patrolling was increased and vehicles were being checked.

He said the police thoroughly searched the railway station though nothing objectionable was found during it. Dog squad was also pressed to service to identify objectionable material including drugs or weapons from unscrupulous elements at the railway station. The police also checked hotels located near the railway station.
