Pingalwara observes 30th death anniversary of Bhagat Puran Singh

The All-India Pingalwara Charitable Society marked the 30th death anniversary of its founder and philanthropist Bhagat Puran Singh throughout the week with social and religious initiatives. These social initiatives included a blood donation drive at Manawala complex, where teams of Guru Nanak Dev Hospital and Sri Guru Ramdas Hospital collected 345 units of blood for the patients of Pingalwara.

Twenty students of Sahibzada Jujhar Singh Gurmat Missionary College, Roopnagar, 30 students of Amritsar Group of Colleges, and 30 jawans of Punjab Police Lines donated blood. 110 wards of Pingalwara, servicemen, servicewomen, office staff, centre and medical staff also donated blood.

Besides, an exhibition of paintings related to environment made by children was also organised. Bhagat Puran was an active environmentalist, who propagated living in harmony with nature. An exhibition of handicrafts and eatables like pickles, marmalade and syrup made by children, especially the wards of Pingalwara, was also organised. In the exhibition, natural farming model was exhibited by the children of Bhagat Puran Singh Adarsh School, Manawala. Pingalwara has designed learning programmes in organic farming, handicrafts for its inmates, including those with various physical as well as mental disabilities.

To culminate the weeklong activities, the society members participated in a religious ceremony today.
