Phulkari WOA conducts graduation ceremony

Phulkari WOA conducted the graduation ceremony of 35 students of its digital literacy programme at Centre of Advanced Computers and Management Studies (CACMS).

The guests of honour were Anjali Singh Assistant Commissioner (GST) Tarn Taran, Ashish Luthra, Director Luthra Bottles Pvt. Ltd. and the patron of the programme, Anu Bedi, Principal Senior Secondary School, Karampura.

The digital literacy programme was launched in March 2023 to impart essential computer skills to children of the lower economic bracket in order to make them industry ready individuals. Dr Sugandh Khanna, the founder of CACMS, designs the curriculum and supervises the training. Phulkari member and programme incharge, Rajni Bajaj, coordinates with the students and looks after the logistics. About 90 students have been trained under it so far under.

“The children are taught the basics of computers under Level 1, the older children graduate to Level 2, which teaches more specific skills like Tally for Accounting, Designing and Level 3 prepares them for placements. Level 3 also gives overall grooming, for preparation of job interviews. The programme is one of the verticals of the philanthropic Phulkari learning programme, which was launched in 2018 to help children of the lower economic bracket to move towards brighter futures through education,” shared Aarti Khanna, president, Phulkari.

Its other vertical is functional English, which trains middle and secondary school children in spoken English and English communication to improve their future employability prospects.
