One death, two fresh cases in Amritsar district

Amritsar: With two positive cases reported on Wednesday, the count of cases from the district has increased to 47,345. The district has also reported recovery of one patient with which the recovery count has increased to 45,741. The district at present has a total of eight active cases. The toll due to the disease has also increased to 1,596 with the death of a 70-year-old Manohar Singh of Guru Arjan Dev Nagar. The health authorities stated that deceased was admitted at Guru Nanak Hospital where he expired on Tuesday. Meanwhile, 8,637 residents were inoculated on Wednesday. Of these 5,573 received first dose of the vaccine while 3,064 received second dose. TNS

‘Maintain quality in food items’

Amritsar: In view of the festival season ahead, the Health Department has asked food business operators to provide quality and unadulterated food items to the consumers. The department has warned of strict action against food businesses operating without license from the department under Food Safety Act. District Health Officer Dr Bharti Dhawan said food operators are required to follow all guidelines of the act, including those associated to health requirement of the workers. She said action is being taken against the defaulters who do not match the guidelines laid down by the Health Department. TNS
