Man booked on rape charge

The Ajnala police have booked a person for allegedly raping a girl after keeping her in illegal detention.

The victim told the police that the suspect gave her some sedatives following which she felt unconscious. Later, he took her to an unidentified place where he kept her in a locked room and repeatedly raped her.

The girl said somehow she managed to flee from his custody and reached home. She narrated her ordeal to her family members after that they lodged a complaint with the police.

A case under Sections 376 and 342 of the IPC has been registered against the suspect, identified as Tikka Singh of Jhunjh village.

The victim told the police that on November 23, her family members had gone to attend a marriage function and she was alone at home. She said Tikka, who used to come to their home on a regular basis, came in the evening and raped her. She said later, he gave her some sedative following which she felt unconscious.

She added that after gaining her conscious, she found herself in a locked room. According to the victim, the suspect used to come in the evening and rape her. She added that on Saturday, the door of the room was not properly locked and she managed to flee.

The police said medical examination of the victim had been conducted and further investigation was underway. A hunt has been launched to nab the suspect.
