Local NGO gets 28 couples married

The local NGO Citizen Council (CC) in its 28th annual ‘Kannian Dan’ function organised here on Sunday solemnised marriages of 28 couples from poor families, according to the Sikh traditions.

Member of Parliament from Khadoor Sahib Jasbir Singh Dimpa and local MLA Dr Dharmbeer Agnihotri were among others, who blessed the newlywed couples. Avtar Singh Taneja, president of the CC, said the couples were given domestic-useable articles as gifts as a mark of affection.

A number of social organisations and individuals made donations for the cause of mass marriages of people from needy families.

Mass marriages at Bhavan SL Public School

Nine couples exchanged wedding vows during a mass marriage ceremony organised by Bhavan’s SL Public School on Sunday on the school premises. The ceremony was organised with the efforts of chairman Avinash Mohindru and Principal Dr Anita Bhalla, with a generous cooperation by students, parents and social workers of the city.

Cabinet Minister OP Soni graced the occasion as chief guest. — TNS
