Amritsar, February 13
Despite the Municipal Corporation’s best efforts, only 6,300 residents submitted their feedback for the Ease of Living Index Assessment, a Citizen Perception Survey is being conducted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, so far. Officials of the MC said it was less than 1 per cent of the total population of the city and youngsters should come forward to give their online opinion about the city.
Sanjay Kanwar, nodal officer for the survey in the city, said the MC had uploaded 86 per cent data related to infrastructure in the city in Municipal Performance Index (MPI) survey and 80 per cent data in Ease of Living Index (EOL) survey. The rest of the data would be uploaded by tomorrow. He said the residents of the city would have to take part in the online survey and they could share their opinion about the city till February 29. “Only 6,300 residents have participated in this survey, which is less than 1 per cent of the total population of the city,” added Sanjay.
He appealed to the residents to participate more in the survey and said this number was very less in proportion to the population of a big city like Amritsar. He said as youngsters mostly used smart phones, they could go to http://eol2019.org/Citizenfeedback link and get maximum opinion recorded through the survey.
Started on January 16, the survey, which is being conducted both online and offline, would continue till the end of February. The citizen perception survey is a part of Assessment Frameworks for Ease of Living (EoL) Index for all smart cities and million-plus population cities. The 114 cities would be ranked on the basis of the results of the survey. It was learnt that the ranking of cities would be released in June this year. The data obtained from the survey could be used for the development of the city, claimed MC officials.
