DC: Rs 2 crore to make Dinewal a smart village

To improve rural infrastructure, the state government with a grant of Rs 2 crore will turn Dinewal village into a smart village, Deputy Commissioner Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal said here on Friday during a gathering in the village.

A camp was also organised on the occasion to assist the disadvantaged sections of the society under the Mahatma Gandhi Sarbat Vikas Yojna, the Deputy Commissioner said. He said a pond with a cost of Rs 40 lakh would be constructed under ‘Chhinchewal Model’ and treated wastewater would be used by farmers to irrigate crops. He said streets, drains and village paths would be made pakka with better drainage system. Toilets under the Swachh Bharat Mission, an anganwari centre, park would be constructed in the village, besides a five marla plot would be given to needy families, the DC further added. He said this all would cost Rs 62 lakh. The Deputy Commissioner sought the cooperation of village panchayat and residents to complete the works in time.

Harjinder Singh, village sarpanch, and officials from other departments were present on the occasion.
