British High Commissioner to India interacts with GNDU staff, students

A delegation led by Alexender Ellis, British High Commissioner to India, visited Guru Nanak Dev University here on Tuesday. The High Commissioner addressed the students and faculty members of the university and sought ideas for the future UK and India collaboration.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Jaspal Singh Sandhu presented the priorities of GNDU in education, research, and innovation. He also spoke about the new initiatives taken by the university. Apart from the VC, Academic Affairs Dean Prof SS Behl, Registrar Prof Karanjeet Singh Kahlon, OSD to VC Prof Hardeep Singh, Student’s Welfare Dean Prof Anish Dua and other senior officials were also present on the occasion.

The British High Commissioner visited the newly-constituted departments and centre of excellence in the university and also toured MYAS, GNDU, Department of Sports Sciences and Medicine, Department of Biotechnology and Department of Agriculture. He also informed them about sports facilities given by the university. Ellis visited research laboratories of neurophysiology, motion analysis, human performance, sports psychology, exercise physiotherapy, kinanthropometry, exercise physiology, isotonic and VO2 calculation of the MYAS, GNDU.

Showing interest in collaborations in research and development, he also interacted with students in the university’s syndicate room. The British High Commissioner to India asked the students about the changes they would like to see in the world in the next 10 years. While talking to the students, he was interested in knowing the perspectives of students on several global issues.
