Amritsar, April 19

Even after a lapse of three days, the police are still clueless about the perpetrators of the murderous attack on hotelier Harpreet Singh, alias Anmol Chadha.

Though the police have summoned several persons following the scrutinising of a mobile phone found from the spot, nobody had appeared before the police. Police personnel wishing not to be named said the police were scrutinizing the CCTV cameras and call dump of the mobile phone seized from the spot.

A preliminary probe had hinted at some insiders, but the police said it would be immature to name anyone at this point of the probe. The police were working on different theories to crack the case.

Chadha along with his driver was going to Starbucks coffee house in Ranjit Avenue area on Saturday when unidentified persons fired several gunshots at him. As he came out of his SUV, two scooter-borne persons came there and started firing at Chadha. He had a narrow escape in the incident.

The police suspected that the perpetrators were gangsters hired by some persons. Being a high-profile case, the incident has become a pain in the neck of the police.
