Amritsar: 3 NCC cadets get warm welcome

Amritsar: Three NCC students of Khalsa College, Amritsar -- Simarjit Singh of the Army wing, Shaswat of the Air wing and Princepal Singh of the Naval wing, who participated in the Republic Day parade in Delhi -- were given a warm welcome on reaching the campus on Thursday. They had undergone a challenging and difficult selection process before finding their spot in the parade. Principal Dr Mehal Singh said the three cadets participated in the Republic Day parade. He expressed confidence in their bright future. He said they showed discipline, dedication and commitment required to achieve such high goals. He praised Dr Mohan Singh (in charge, Air wing), Dr Harbilas Singh Randhawa (ANO, Army wing) and Dr Parminder Singh (in charge, Naval wing) for their relentless efforts and motivation to cadets. Col Pawandeep Singh Bal, Commanding Officer 1 PB BN NCC, Commanding Officer Group Captain MK Vats 2 PB AIR SQN NCC and Commanding Officer Ajay Sharma 2 PB NAVAL NCC also showered praises and said the cadets would be torch-bearers for their juniors as NCC cadets.

Workshop on Cyber Security

The department of computer applications of the Global Group of Institutes organised a workshop on Cyber Security Career Roadmap. Guest speaker Jatinderpal Singh, Cyber Security lead at H&M Group Business, Bengaluru, conducted the workshop. He shared a wide range of information with the students and faculty present on the occasion. He discussed the threat landscape and modus operandi of cyber attackers during the course of his talk. He highlighted various cyber security threats and emphasized the importance of understanding these threats to get protection from potential attacks. He delved into the significance of IoT devices and the threat they pose to data security. Phishing attacks were also discussed during the deliberations shedding light on the tactics used by cyber attackers to deceive individuals and gather unauthorised access to sensitive information. He explained the cyber kill chain and the cyber attack lifecycle, providing insights into various stages of an attack. The workshop focused on defense strategies against cyber attacks and effective ways to defend against threats to safeguard digital assets.

GNDU announces results

Guru Nanak Dev University declared the results of Bachelor of Food Science & Technology (Hons), Semester-V Bachelor of Food Science & Technology (Hons.) Semester-VII and B Sc (Home Science), Semester-III of session December 2023. These results have been uploaded on university website: www.gndu.ac.in.

Workshop on Financial Literacy

DAV Public School, Lawrence Road, Amritsar, on Wednesday hosted a workshop to sensitize teachers to the basics of Financial Literacy and the use of digital tools that are relevant in the current scenario. The aim is to create awareness about basic financial planning and avoids falling prey to cyber frauds and phishing. Resource persons for the day were CA Ashish Gupta and CA Srishti Gupta. Ashish Gupta has a track record of delivering high-quality financial expertise and strategic guidance. CA Srishti Gupta's achievements span delivering enlightening lectures on Income Tax, GST, Start-Up India and subsidy related schemes. Around 220 participants, in three different slots, benefited from this very interactive and enriching session. Dr Pallavi Sethi, principal of the school, emphasized that such sessions help educators to plan their future in a better way.
