Absent from duty, 10 Amritsar cops suspended

Police Commissioner Arun Pal Singh suspended 10 cops who were found absent from different checkpoints during surprise checking on Wednesday evening.

The police also initiated a departmental probe against them following orders by the Police Commissioner. They have been sent to the Police Lines till further orders.

According to information, the cops were deputed in posh localities at Ranjit Avenue, Basant Avenue and other adjoining areas where nakas were set up for checking the movement of anti-social elements. Saying negligence in duty will not be tolerated, Arun Pal asked the cops to perform their duty diligently.
