Rs 85,000 looted from gas agency

Amritsar: A gas agency was looted of Rs 85,000 by two armed robbers in Rayya on Friday. The duo also took away the digital video recorder of CCTV cameras. Sumit Kalia, manager of the gas agency, said, “At around 4.30pm on Friday, two armed persons barged into the gas agency and snatched Rs 85,000.” Cops said they were scrutinising CCTV footage of nearby houses to find clues about the miscreants. A case under Section 379-B of the IPC has been registered against two unknown persons. TNS

Training held for budding investors

Amritsar: Nehru Yuva Kendra organised a three-day training programme on investor education, awareness and protection at Government ITI, Lopoke, from June 15 to June 17. The programme was sponsored by Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India. In this programme, 80 youngsters were provided training. Sessions on financial planning, banking and savings, investment, mutual funds, share market, crypto currency, post office scheme, banking scheme and government schemes were held. District Youth Officer Akanksha Mahawaria said in the end, certificates were given to participants. TNS

ASI booked for cheating dept

Tarn Taran: Punjab Police ASI Darshan Singh was booked by the local city police for cheating his own department after presenting bogus reports in a case related to the NDPS Act. Four years ago, when he was posted as Head Munshi (MHC) at the local city police station, he replaced the report of the results received from a laboratory of the drugs seized from the accused under the NDPS Act. As a result, the accused was exonerated. A complaint was registered in July 2018. As soon as cheating was reported, departmental inquiry was conducted by Gurbaj Singh, SP, Punjab Bureau of Investigation (PBI). ASI Darshan Singh was booked under Sections 409, 420, 465, 466, 471 and 120-B of the IPC. The police have initiated further proceedings after registering the case.
