35 new tubewells to quench city’s thirst coming summer

Medical Education and Research Minister OP Soni on Saturday announced that 35 more tubewells would be installed in the city before summer to address the water shortage. He was addressing a public meeting during his visit at ward number 60 in the Central Assembly constituency. He also reviewed the ongoing development works.

The residents had been demanding installation of tubewells in their areas for long.This will solve the scarcity of potable water during the summer months. The work on digging the tubewells will be completed in a week. The issues related to sanitation, sewerage, roads and other development works will also be addressed soon.

On the occasion, he listened to the problems and issues of residents and assured them of their solution. Soni also inaugurated two tubewells at Lahori Gate and ward number 71.

Addressing the residents, he said it was long pending demand of the residents to install new tubewells in their areas. This would solve the scarcity of potable water during summer months. He announced that within a week the tubewell installation work would be completed.

He said LED street lights were being installed in all wards. On the occasion, Mayor Karamjit Singh Rintu stated that the Municipal Corporation had installed 100 tubewells in the city in the last two years. He said there would be no shortage of water in the city. The issues of sanitation, sewerage, roads and other development works would be addressed soon.

The Mayor said development works had been initiated in all wards.

Mahesh Khanna, Chairman of the Water Supply and Sewerage sub-committee, Councillors Vikas Soni, Gurdev Dara and Sarabjit Lotti were present on the occasion.
