The police have arrested three persons in two separate incidents for allegedly possessing country-made weapons. The Gharinda police in Amritsar (Rural) police district nabbed Gursewak Singh, alias Babbu, a resident of Nurpur Hakima, Dharampur, Moga, and Jagpreet Singh, aka Bhullar, a resident of Khanna in Ferozepur, from the Attari road. The police seized a pistol, five live bullets and a mobile phone from Gursewak.

The police said they got a specific input that Gursewak, who was travelling in an Innova bearing registration No. PB-03-R-7337, was carrying an illegal pistol. Following tip-off, a naka was laid near Barista for checking vehicles. The suspect was intercepted and the pistol was recovered from him. During interrogation, Gursewak told the police that Jagpreet had sent him for bringing the weapon from an unknown person. Immediately, a raid was conducted in Ferozepur and Jagpreet was arrested. A case under the Arms Act was registered against the two suspects and further probe was on.

In the second incident, the city police have arrested Jagdeep Singh, alias Jatt, a resident of Bhai Veer Singh Colony at Mullechak village, and recovered a .315 bore country-made weapon with seven live bullets from his possession. A case was registered against Jagdeep in this connection.
