Amritsar, January 24

The body of a Jalandhar-based man, who died in Dubai, reached Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport here on Friday. The deceased, Prabjot Singh (21) from Shahkot in Jalandhar, had migrated to Dubai on January 13, in dream of a good life. He reportedly committed suicide on January 16, two days after reaching there.

Family members of the deceased said he could not find job in accordance with his expectations, following which he got upset and committed suicide. Prabjot's cousins, who resided in Dubai, met office-bearers of Sarbat Da Bhala Trust in Dubai to request assistance in airlifting his body from Dubai. They said Prabjot's family wanted to conduct his cremation at his native village.

The body was airlifted with help from the Trust, which is run by SP Singh Oberoi, and handed over to the family of the deceased by members of the local units of the Trust.

Sukhjinder Singh Hair, president of the local unit of Sarbat Da Bhalla Trust, said they had been helping workers in the UAE for long. — TNS
