The district Health Department has intensified the drive against dengue in different localities after two dengue cases were reported from the city recently.

In its drive on Saturday, the department conducted a survey of houses in Chotta Haripura area and issued 15 challans to house owners at whose premises mosquito larvae were found.

“We have conducted a survey of 274 houses. Besides issuing challans, anti-mosquito spray was also conducted,” said district epidemiologist Dr Madan Mohan. He said dengue cases were reported from Ekta Nagar area recently.

The department officials stated that the residents must take precautionary guidelines seriously. “It hardly takes half an hour every week to check the items that can hold water. However, if you suffer from the disease, it would result in confinement to bed for at least 15 days, besides loss of money,” said health experts.

The department officials said since the department had issued over 750 challans to residents after mosquito larvae were found. Civil Surgeon Dr Charanjit Singh said the purpose of these drives was to create awareness among the masses and to sensitize them to the problem.
