The results of the Panjab University (PU) Academic Council poll were declared here today.

The voting for the election of 15 college teachers to the council took place on January 15. The term for the council is two years – from February 1 to January 31, 2022.

The 15 elected teachers are Dr Manju Dewan, Dr Sarvjeet Kaur, Dr Amardeep Kaur, Naveen Kumar, Dr Sunder Singh, Dr Amrit Pal Kaur, Dr Sandeep Kumar Bansal, Amit Sharma, Dr Anil Kumar, Harjit Singh, Surinder Kumar, Ramandeep Singh, Sandeep Singh, Gaganpreet Walia and Dr Kulbir Singh.

There had been resentment over the election process of the Panjab University Academic Council as the Chandigarh Government Colleges Teachers’ Association had written to Panjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Raj Kumar and the Registrar regarding non-inclusion of the duly approved college teachers in the voter list.

However, PU Registrar Karamjeet Singh had clarified that a preliminary list of voters was put up on the notice board 60 days before the elections.
