Rajouri, January 19
The Department of Health and Family Welfare has claimed that 82 per cent children were covered on the first day of three-day long Intensified Pulse Polio Immunisation (IPPI) programme in Rajouri district.
The rest of the children would be covered in the next two days, officials claimed. The campaign was started by Deputy Commissioner Mohd Nazir Sheikh at a pulse polio booth jointly set up by the department and Rotary Club at Gujjar Mandi Chowk.
DC and KK Langer, senior Rotarian, administrated vaccine to the children, while CMO Dr Sanjeev Puri inaugurated the campaign at Jawahar Nagar.
“Of the 1,08,914 target children, 88,918 were administrated vaccine on the first day, which includes 1,902 children in high-risk areas such as snow-bound areas, slums, brick kilns etc.” said Dr Anees, deputy CMO.
As many as 643 booths have been set up in Rajouri district to provide pulse polio vaccine to children by 2,572 health employees, he said. Additional DC, Surender Kumar started the IPPI at CHC, Kotranka.— OC
