4-MLD sewage treatment plant to come up in Sanaur: DC

A sewage treatment plant having a capacity of four million litres per day (MLD) will be set up for the first time in Sanaur area of Patiala. Deputy Commissioner Kumar Amit, after a meeting with officials, including Punjabi Pollution Control Board, Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board and Municipal Council, Sanaur, said the waste water from the area will be discharged into the Badi Nadi only after it is treated at the water treatment plant.

The administration was yet to identify the exact place where the plant will be set up.

The Tribune had reported about the plant to be set-up on December 18. Till now the sewerage water has been discharged directly into the Badi Nadi.

The DC said the installation will be carried out by the Department of Water Supply and Sewerage and it will be handed over to the Municipal Council, Sanaur, after completion. He said it will be linked to the project of beautification and development of the Badi Nadi being carried out by a private company.
