Bathinda, January 16
The district Health Department will organise a three-day pulse polio drive from January 19 to January 21, in which 1.52 lakh children aged upto five will be administered polio drops.
Sharing details on the drive, the District Immunisation Officer, Dr Kundan Kumar Pal, said: “A micro-plan for pulse polio drive has already been readied by the department. We will cover around 1.52 lakh children aged upto five.”
Training of ANMs, ASHA workers, nursing students, multi-purpose health workers (male) and anganwadi workers had already been completed, Dr Pamil Bansal said.
Dr Pal added: “There has been reporting of significant number of polio cases in our neighbouring country in 2019 and a few of these cases were from border areas. Therefore, there is a risk of spread of polio virus through migratory population.”
Bathinda Civil Surgeon Dr Amrik Singh Sandhu appealed to all residents of the district to get their children vaccinated. He exhorted residents to extend full co-operation to the drive.
