‘Ishq hai’ teaches youth to fight for their rights

The drama club of Guru Nanak Dev University here staged a play, Ishq hai, written by Ajmer Aulakh. The play was performed at the Khalsa Heritage Centre of the university. A large number of students and faculty were present on the event.

Vice-Chancellor Dr Jaspal Singh Sandhu presided over the programme. Emanual Singh, director of the play, said the play was an attempt not only to identify the talent among the students but also to make them aware of their rights being a citizen of the country. He said the play encourages the youth and people to fight for their rights. In the play, folk tales of legendry lovers were also used to spread the message.

The students and faculty members appreciated the efforts of the club. The stage was prepared on a platform around an old banyan tree in the natural ambiance of the university complex.
