Former India cricketer Praveen Kumar met with an accident on the night of July 4, Tuesday, in Meerut. Near the Meerut commissioner's bungalow, a canter moving at a high speed struck the former pacer. When the local police arrived, they took the accused canter driver's automobile into custody.

The crowd soon gathered at the spot after the collision, and it was they who managed to apprehend the alleged driver. The Civil Line police station arrived at the location after getting the information. The former fast bowler was driving his Land Rover and was returning from Pandav Nagar when the incident took place. Fortunately, he and his son were unharmed, and as the police arrived, the canter driver was taken into custody.

Notably, this is not the first time that Praveen has incurred with an accident. During his homecoming reception that was organised in the year 2007 in Meerut, Praveen fell from his open Jeep and hurt himself.
