An unmarried youth was allegedly stabbed to death by a villager after heated exchanges over stray cattle at Bagli Kalan village yesterday. The deceased has been identified as Tanvir Singh (35). The police have arrested Amandeep Singh on the charge of murdering Tanvir.
Tanvir worked at a private factory at Biza. Around 8.30 pm last evening, he returned home from work. He found the street blocked as Amandeep had tied about 20 stray animals in front of his house. When Tanvir asked Amandeep to steer away the stray animals, heated exchanges ensued.
Amandeep pulled out an ice-pick and stabbed Tanvir in the chest and the back. He was rushed to the local Civil Hospital but he died on the way.
Amandeep, who had fled the scene after the incident, was arrested today. Samrala SHO Sukhvir Singh said the police had registered a case of murder. Tanvir’s body was handed over to his guardians after post-mortem.
