Alleging that the Model Town police are not arresting the accused involved in an assault case, a victim, identified as Ashu (20), of CRPF Colony, on Thursday reached the Deputy Commissioner office on a stretcher to register his protest.

Ashu said he sold illicit liquor with Vikas. But after sometime, he distanced himself from the illegal profession but Vikas wanted him to continue.

Ashu alleged that on August 24, he was cornered by Vikas, who is a liquor peddler. He told him to continue liquor peddling, but he refused. After minor argument over the issue, Vikas, along with his friends, thrashed him.

“I am undergoing treatment at a hospital. Despite repeated requests to the Model Town police, no arrest has been made in the case by the police. Whenever we go to the police station, the personnel present there make hollow promises. I, along with my mother, came from the hospital on a stretcher and staged a protest outside the DC office,” he alleged.

The victim’s mother alleged that the DC sent them to DCP Ashwani Kapur who assured them that the accused would be arrested soon.

The DCP said the SHO concerned was told to conduct raids to nab the accused.

Sources said one of the accused Moji was arrested in the evening.

Those booked in the case are Vikas, Sanjay, Vicky Birla, Sonu Birla, Kunal Dua, Sachin Pradum, Preet, Doji and two unidentified persons.
